Although Cisco, a giant in the networking industry, continues to push its array of videoconferencing hardware, market interest is swaying toward a do-it-yourself attitude; this includes the likes of Internet-based technologies, arguably lead by WebRTC. Assemblage, a company dedicated to cloud-based communications, could give Cisco the edge it needs to continue to compete both today and tomorrow. In the company's official announcement, Cisco’s Head of Business Development, Hilton Romanski, speaks on the necessity for collaboration technology in today's world of mobile and interconnected devices: "Collaboration technology gives us the ability to work together anywhere, on any device, at any time," Romanski says in his blog post.
