Samsung Responds To Galaxy S4 Benchmark Rigging Allegations

Yesterday AnandTech published a report regarding the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone, the handset was apparently uses a slightly faster GPU clock speed when running benchmarks than it does when running normal applications.

This led to quite a bit of speculation that Samsung were rigging a number of benchmarks results on their Galaxy S4 smartphone, Samsung has now published a statement which you can see below.

Microsoft Office 365 App Arrives On Android Smartphones

Android users waiting for the arrival of Microsoft Office will be pleased to learn that Microsoft has now made available a smartphone version of their Microsoft Office 365 suite of apps.

But unfortunately at the current time no Android tablet version of the Micrsooft Office 365 suite is available to install. The new Microsoft Office 365 Android application provides users with access to Microsoft’s aloud storage service SkyDrive as well as SkyDrive Pro, or SharePoint services.

Paperdude VR Uses Bike, Oculus Rift, And Kinect To Create Next Gen Paperboy Game (video)

If you are old enough you might remember the original Paperboy game that launched way back in 1984 and consisted of you riding you bike and delivering paper whilst dodging hazards along the way.

Even More Sony Honami Photos Appear Online

Sony will launch their new Sony Honami smartphone at IFA in Berlin in September, we have already seen quite a few photos of the handset over the last few weeks, and now some more have appeared online, which confirm the handsets 20 megapixel camera.

The two photos below look like they are from a prototype version of the Sony Honami, the device is rumored to come with a  5 inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the device will be powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz.

Samsung Galaxy S2 To Stay On Android 4.1.2

We had previously heard that the Samsung Galaxy S2 would get updated to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, although now it would appear that the handset will not be getting the update after all.

According to a recent report, the Samsung Galaxy S2 will stay on Android 4.1.2, this is apparently due to issues with Samsung’s TouchWiz users interface.

However, a new form 10-K was followed by Microsoft with the Securities and Exchanges Commission and it gives us the best direct picture of how Microsoft is doing with its Surface line of tablets we’ve had so far. The form shows that Microsoft has made $853 million in revenue from the Surface tablet line.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Warranty Does Not Cover Water Damage

It looks like LG is working on a follow up to the LG Optimus Vu 2, the new version of the handset will be called the LG Optimus Vu 3, the device will come with a 5 inch display.

The 5 inch display on the LG Optimus Vu 3 is said to come with a 4:3 aspect ratio and will feature a resolution of 1280 x 960 pixels, so far those are the only specifications available for the device.

We have been hearing rumors for a while that Nokia are working on a tablet, and now details of a Nokia tablet with Windows in tow have appeared in some benchmarks, the Nokia RX-114.

The Nokia RX-114 turned up in the GFX bench benchmarks, and it looks like the device will feature a display with an apparent resolution of 1371 x 771 pixels, the Microsoft Surface tablet features a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.

Xiaomi have announced their latest smartphone in China, the Xiaomi Red Rice which will launch in China on the 12th of August, the handset comes with a 4.7 inch HD display with Gorilla Glass 2 and 312ppi.

The Xiaomi Red Rice is powered by a quad core 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6589T processor, and it features 1GB of RAM and 4GB of built in storage, there is also front and rear facing cameras.

Samsung has announced new versions of its Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini smartphones, the new version of the handsets come with Dual Mode LTE.

Samsung has said that these new variants of the S4 and S4 Mini will offer support for TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE standards, Samsung recently announced a Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE Advanced handset in South Korea.

Sony Xperia Z And ZL Firmware Update Released

Sony has released a new firmware update of the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL smartphone, the update comes with build number 10.3.1.A.0.244, although there are no details of what is included in the update.

The update is being rolled out as an OTA update, although if you have a rooted device it is recommended that you do not update as the update will cause your handset to loose root.

The 3D Printed Car

We have featured a number of 3D printed projects here at Geeky Gadgets, although the latest one from Ivan Sentch who lives in Auckland New Zealand may be one of the most ambitious 3D printed project so far, a 3D printed car.

Ivan is building himself a replica for a 1961 series II Aston Martin DB4, and is using a Solidoodler 3D printer, he started his project in January, have a look at some of the photos below, of this 3D printed car.

BlackBerry 10.1 MR Update Has An SMS Flaw

BlackBerry recently released a new BlackBerrry 10.1 MR (maintenance release) update, and it looks like the update has a flaw relating to SMS messages.

According to the guys over at N4BB, a number of people who have installed the update are reporting issues with SMS on their BlackBerry 10 devices.

Some users are seeing all their SMS messages disappear, others can still seem some SMS messages, although their history on a thread is no longer there.

There are no details as yet from BlackBerry on when a possible fix for the SMS issue will be released. If you have experienced this problem on your BlackBerry 10 device, leave a comment and let us know.
