Over the weekend, I watched a movie about Ike Eisenhower’s planning of D-Day. It was a good movie but it showed how far we have come in the last century when it comes to feedback and evaluation. In the movie the projections on casualty requirements, weather forecasts, and enemy strength all get evaluated with the best guess and speculation. The lack of immediate feedback adds to the drama. So when D-Day occurs the reports at the end of the day are the only indication as to whether projection equaled implementation.
Today we are capable of aiming tactically in a much more precise manner than we ever had but it is still a ground war when it comes to M2M.
