Retail's Death Spiral Worsens

The Retail Apocalypse is growing stronger.

Approximately 2,000 store closures have been announced just within the last six weeks, which increased the total number of planned closures for 2017 to almost 5,100.

Credit Suisse expects that number to climb to more than 8,600 by the end of the year.

Major department stores such as Macy's, JCPenney, and Sears are among those shutting down stores, along with retailers like Payless, Rue21, Michael Kors, and Bebe. And these closures are crippling hundreds of shopping malls across the US.
