Intel showcased a headset that is in direct competition with Microsoft's Hololens, but likely would be better for things like gaming. Meanwhile Microsoft's effort, which is far more refined and mature, would be better for the industrial implementations that currently define it.
Everyone at Uber seems to be excited to get the ball rolling. Uber Chief Executive Travic Kalanick told The Wall Street Journal, The technology is going to happen because the promise is so real…It's existential. We have to have all the best minds working on this. If they can successfully pull this off in Pittsburgh, we're likely to see self-driving Ubers spring up all around the U.S.
There are certain things I'll probably never understand. One of them is how the entire market moved from phones that were secure and built for business (as in paid the bills) and moved to phones that are unsecure, distracting and wickedly expensive. Celebrities that have been hacked, politicians, government workers and a lot of CEOs still use Blackberries, but the rest of us typically don't. Now their last phone, the Blackberry PRIV (by the way it is a ton of fun to watch someone's face when you drop the keyboard), was an amazing phone and it brought back the keyboard without compromising the screen size by allowing it to slide from under the screen.
Remember the furor over chip-and-PIN cards? How these were so much safer than magnetic strip cards and how we'd all be so much better off once we put them to use? The hype seems to have run just a little farther than the average user might like, as word from NCR says that the chip-and-pin card may have a new security flaw that could render these less safe than previously thought.
The move to being a subscription service results from Hulu's need to compete with other services like Netflix and Amazon Prime. The upcoming plans will offer users the option of subscribing for $7.99 per month with commercials or $11.99 per month without any ads. I would personally prefer to continue paying nothing, with sitting through ads being my only payment, but that's just me.
We are in the heart of fantasy baseball season, while many of you fantasy athletes have hung up the cleats for now impatiently waiting for football, I am one of the millions still hunting for a playoff birth. Primarily, I use CBSsports.com to host my fantasy leagues, and last night before bed I tried to sign in and see what sort of fantasy week I was looking at. The app didn't work properly, it displayed incorrect scores; then this morning when I checked on desktop it appears the site's fantasy sports section went down.
