Huawei announced recently that a demonstration of its Cloudified VoLTE service to be offered through China Mobile was successful. The service incorporated network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN) technology.
At first it was a play just for small to mid-sized businesses that wanted the infrastructure of the big boys without as much overhead cost.
