How Mobile Wallets Work (SAP via Business Insider) For years, tech companies have promised us that soon we'll be using our phones to pay for everything and that our wallets and purses will become a thing of the past. And yet we're all still carrying wallets and purses, just as we did three centuries ago, stuffed full of cards and bills. So we asked our good friends at Statista, the international statistics portal, to tell us everything they know about mobile wallets. Here's the infographic they prepared: Internet And Mobile Venture Capital Funding 2012 (Allegro) The Internet and mobile continue to see large investments from the venture capital world. This year, 90 companies raised close to $750 million in start-up money. The largest silo of investment was in eCommerce. Not surprising was the lack of investment in mobile advertising and marketing. Let's hope that changes this year to follow where the user is spending time. Major Jump In Mobile Traffic After Christmas (Onswipe) Advertising platform Onswipe saw significant traffic increases from mobile users over the two days following Christmas: - An overall increase in unique visitors of 21.81 percent
- iPad unique visitors increased 19.55 percent
- iPhone unique visitors increased 23.52 percent
- Kindle Fire unique visitors increased 74.61 percent
- Nexus 7 unique visitors increased 33.70 percent
