IOIO Turns Your Android Phone Into A Controller Posted: 09 Apr 2011 10:13 AM PDT Say you’ve got an electronics project going full last and need to test it—what to do? Israeli tinkerer Ytai Ben-Tsvi worked his DIY magic to create the IOIO (pronounced yoyo). It’s a nimble slice of hardware that connects to an Android phone via USB. Portable Wavedrum Mini Synthesizer Is Perfect For Any Party Posted: 09 Apr 2011 10:09 AM PDT DJs and musicians are simply bonkers over percussion. Without percussion, modern pop tunes would be hard pressed delivering those all important hooks. Small wonder then that Korg have just flaunted their latest percussion synthesizer, the Wavedrum Mini. Kanye West Autographed Bike From Akira Is On Sale At Craigslist Posted: 09 Apr 2011 09:56 AM PDT A long time ago, before Kanye embarrassed himself during a particular music awards, a video shoot for the song Stronger. In it, this replica of Kaneda’s bike from Akira, perhaps the greatest animated in the 20th century, had a short cameo. That cameo never made the final cut, so it’s been languishing somewhere all these years. (...) © Geeky Gadgets, 2011. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us |
This Unbelievable 4×4 Casemod Comes With A Shovel Posted: 09 Apr 2011 09:44 AM PDT This is the type of Casemod that would run you over if you aren’t careful. As for the bumper and fog lights, we have no idea what they’re for. The shovel? Perhaps when it gets stuck in mud or to knock out the other guy during a particularly heated LAN game. TARDIS Blanket Wraps You In Dr. Who Posted: 09 Apr 2011 09:30 AM PDT Remember Blake’s 7? The seminal space opera from the 70s was one of the best TV programs at the time. Unlike Star Trek, Blake’s 7 had a lot of grit to balance the camp (and lousy special effects). Anyway, this post isn't a Blake’s 7 tribute and concerns itself with a homemade knitted blanket featuring the TARDIS phonebooth from Dr. Who. We just mentioned Blake’s 7 cos if the program endured a little longer, it might still have a following these days. (...) © Geeky Gadgets, 2011. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us |
Nintendo DS “Babysitting Tool”, According To Sony CEO Posted: 08 Apr 2011 03:43 PM PDT We love fighting words from video game industry execs as much as the next journalist putting his kids’ braces through college or whatever off them and the more oblivious the better. And while this isn’t the most out-there interview we’ve seen, we swear we were expecting Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton to start yelling about tightening the graphics on level three any minute. Sony Cutting PSP Price In Europe, UK Apparently Not In Europe Posted: 08 Apr 2011 03:17 PM PDT The flagging PSP was given a boost today as Sony has announced a healthy price cut from the usual €179.99 all the way down to €129.99. That little squiggly thing next to the prices all you native English speakers out there are struggling to decipher means that no, the time hasn’t yet come for that PSP purchase you’ve been putting off for six years. Opinion: Plants vs Zombies vs Farmville And Why It Matters Posted: 08 Apr 2011 02:33 PM PDT Casting companies, executives and generally larger than life video game industry figures in simplistic black and white roles is what's kept the video game press in Doritos and Mountain Dew for most of the recent past. I've done it on occasion, as have most video game journalists, mostly because it's such an easy narrative to fall into. (...) © Geeky Gadgets, 2011. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us |
