Apple is taking mobile AR to the next level Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) — where the tech giant showcases its latest technology and reveals highly anticipated software updates — kicked off on Monday.
Apple offered a first look at ARKit 2.0 — the next iteration of its AR developer platform that makes it easier to build AR apps and experiences — along with a new file format optimized for sharing AR scenes, and an AR-driven app called Measure.
The new AR-focused tools and features announced at WWDC will arrive as part of iOS 12, which is expected to debut in the fall.
AR will play a key role in the tech giant's smartphone-centric future.
