Consumers find out about Black Friday deals from newspapers almost twice as much as from social media

It's no secret that consumers increasingly turn to social media instead of newspapers to stay informed about news and current events. 

When it comes to post-Thanksgiving Black Friday deals though, old-fashioned print broadsheets still have the edge over social media. According to a survey from Deloitte, charted for us by Statista, newspapers were nearly twice as effective at informing consumers about Black Friday deals as social media. 

Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, marks the official beginning of the holiday shopping season, and retailers will be slashing prices on everything from TVs to electric toothbrushes. 

While newspapers are an important source of Black Friday deal information, retailer websites and dedicated Black Friday websites are the two most popular sources of information for Black Friday deals.
