Fiber deployments around the country are popping up everywhere. While Google Fiber started the ball rolling earlier this year, CenturyLink, Frontier, and C-Spire are all now in the game with new deployments. AT&T has responded with new fiber efforts while it remains to be seen what Verizon may or may not do.
WebRTC makes it easy for developers to add audio and video communications into their applications by using Web browsers as the platform for data transmission. Modern HTML5-capable browsers can work with the WebRTC protocol and handle high-quality communication with no extraneous plugins or add-ons. Despite those advantages, however, Bit6 CEO Alexey Goloshubin still reportedly thinks of the real-time communication technology as a "building block" that should be integrated with other systems.
Unify, the company formerly known as Siemens Enterprise Communications, today took the wraps off a new SaaS-based workspace solution called Circuit that gives business users access to a range of collaboration and communications tools.
Broadband continues to be a focus for the FCC, as it paves the way for basic economic growth as well as innovation in arenas like real-time communications. This month, it begins taking bids for the $100 million that it has earmarked for funding fiber projects for underserved communities.
The agent desktop application is the main tool of a contact center agent, where she or he manages availability, controls telephony and interacts with whatever application manages the end customer interaction.
