A catch-22 situation is holding up what could be a massive move to the digital distribution of games, which are still primarily bought at retail in hard copy. Unlike downloaded titles, store-bought versions can be traded in later on for credit on newer games.

Over-the-top (OTT) streaming operator Totalmovie, which aims to overtake Netflix as dominating over-the-top (OTT) Latin America, has unveiled its live television service, available in the 40 countries where it offers its existing on-demand subscription service. Combined, the two will make for a multiplatform service available across Internet-connected devices including TVs, mobile phones, tablets, streaming players and video gaming consoles.
As the industry hurtles toward 2013, we've seen a hockey-stick-like rise in over-the-top (OTT) video consumption, which has given rise, most famously, to concerns among pay-TV operators that their subscription revenue is at risk from cord-cutting, or people dropping them in favor of cheap streaming options
